qtfm code of conduct

The Queer & Trans Farmers’ Market (QTFM) offers a vital space for queer people to connect with and invest in each other. We are committed to fostering community care and creating a celebratory and safer space. QTFM
aims to uphold the following shared values:

Minimize barriers to participation.

Accessibility is prioritized in the planning of this event. We aim to create a space where everyone can partake regardless of financial capacity.

Recognize privilege to participate.

Having the capacity to volunteer in this event is a privilege itself. We recognize that while we oppose systems
of oppression (capitalism, racism, sexism, colonialism, homophobia, etc.), we have also benefited from them. We look to reduce harm wherever possible and take seriously any behaviors rooted in exerting power over another person or group.

No policing of others.

Please don’t act like cops to each other! Find a volunteer if you need support de-escalating any situation, or if you are feeling uncomfortable or unsafe. We will work discreetly with you to address the behaviour. You can also report concerns via email at qtfm.yyj@gmail.com.

Take care of one another.

We encourage attendees to exercise their compassion. Safer spaces rely on each and every one of us. Harm
reduction and support (including a low-stimulation space) will be available on-site at QTFM.

Cultivate a culture of consent.

We honour bodily autonomy and prioritize consent. Non-consensual touching and behaviours will not be tolerated.

By sharing this space, you are expected to share these values - any violations of this code of conduct will be addressed. The QTFM organizing team retains the right to take protective actions for the safety of others in our space, namely the queer and trans community. This is an evergreen document. We are all human and harm happens even with the best of intentions. As we learn and grow, we will update this code accordingly.
